Education: Graduated with honors from the Department of Civil Engineering of Mansoura University in Mansoura, Egypt in 1985. Earned M.Sc. in 1990 at Mansoura University in Mansoura, Egypt, M.Eng. 1991 at International Institute of Water Education (UNESCO-IHE), Delft, The Netherlands, and Ph.D. in 1996 at the Department of Hydraulic and Geotechnical Engineering, Delft University of Technology, Delft, The Netherlands.
